Barnes & Noble Product Review Management System

How might we reduce bias in user generated content administration without losing domain context?

I designed a B2B tool that affords an intuitive experience for third party moderators to review large amounts of user generated content on the BN.com website. The app provides enough context for third party admins to review flagged content — removing the possibility of implicit bias from internal stakeholders reviewing the same content. The existing tool was wrought with internal idiosyncrasies and was not scalable to the ever growing amount of content to review. The critical challenge for this design was creating a collapsible format for the various types of user generated content that could be quickly browsed, searched, and filtered while also easily expanded for in-depth review. I interviewed stakeholders across business verticals within the organization to understand what was unique about their customer generated content and what a moderator would need to see when.
